a human is only what you put into it. there's no spontaneous change. everything comes from outside. a human can only be more than an animal if the culture raises it to be so. If you deprive it of those things, it can't overcome those obstacles unless it's given the right tools to eventually do so, at some point.

I think people take their free will for granted. They think everyone can make the same choices they can, regardless of current circumstances or their past.

I just wish people would try more to overcome that danger of losing inertia. People just ignore so much, and think everything is fine, and then wonder why things like crime are going up in their city, or dangerous, aggressive driving.

I hope one day I'm strong enough to actually try to do something about it, but most days I just try to keep my head above water.
